For about 90 bucks you can pretend you're asleep in the car next to your hot Aunt Matilda. You know...the one with no torso? If you live in Japan.

Happy Holidays!

We gave in and opened one Christmas present each a couple of days ago (we needed it). Lindsey gave me a really sharp looking Denver Broncos welcome mat (go Broncos!). The thing is, it's so nice, I don't wanna use it outside! I can imagine people cleaning their shoes on that nice, white Bronco logo and I just can't allow that. So it's gonna stay inside somewhere. It'll still get dirty, but not within a week of using it.

Lindsey can tell you all about her present. She loves it!

Hey, Creationists....you guys gotta get some better players on your team if you wanna keep believing that dinosaurs and people hung out together. Because this homophobic jackass and his radio show ain't cuttin' it.

Christmas can't get here soon enough. I wanna open some damn presents and I wanna see my girlfriend and my nieces open some presents and then I wanna open some more presents. I'm all about presents this year, more than any other year since I was 12. Not that I necessarily want presents, but I know I have them and the ones I have I wanna open. Gimme presents!!!

Ahem.

Here's a new blog I discovered on the Drawing Board dedicated to illustration and design. Some inspiring stuff.

Last night I did some work on a nutty-looking Mastercard commercial. I worked at a company in Culver City that was also having their company party the same night. I was warned that it would be loud, and it was. The room I worked in was more like a glorified cubicle with no doors so it was open to whatever noises were directly outside of it. Everyone seemed to worry about how much work I was gonna get done with all the racket. The guy who worked in the room before me even graciously loaned me his iPod. But I did fine. I probably would have been listening to music that loud anyway and the selections by the party DJ kept me awake (lots of club hip hop and various other party favorites). I was in at 6pm and was out of there by 1130. I did not use the iPod.

Hopefully, our extremely late Christmas cards will be done today and I'll be able to send them out by tomorrow. The lateness, of course, is my fault since I dragged my ass a bit on drawing it in the first place but I think it came out okay. I got Celia's card a couple of days ago and it is gorgeous. (I'll have to apologize about the quality of mine in the card I give her.) On top of that she made these cards for charity. I'm going to hell.

The California stem cell research train moves along.

Have a good weekend, kids.

Here Comes Dr. Tran will finally be available for sale via the internet. Hallelujah. The new DVDs have arrived and they look great. Breehn and Christy redesigned the disc artwork and it's pretty snazzy.

This weekend was a bit hectic and I didn't get much done but I did get the remaining presents for my nieces wrapped, which is good. I still need to complete the little bit of shopping left for this money-hungry holiday. I'm hoping to get more work soon and I'm definitely hoping for something steady in the new year.

I attended this animation community Christmas party at the Pickwick Center last Friday. I'm not really an animator so it felt like I was crashing. It started off kinda boring but ended up a lot of fun. The house band was good, a three piece with drums, vibes, and a bass. The guy on drums was none other than Stuart Johnson, a friend of mine from another band whom I haven't seen in months. It was good to chat with the guy. I forgot to get the phone number of the girl he used to see whom I know who grows weed now. I gotta get that. You know, for medicinal purposes. Also saw Keith, Breehn, Christy, their friend John Paul, Patrick Morgan, Stephen Silver, their friend Chad, and a few more people I didn't expect to see.(Although now that I think about it, I wonder why my pal Tad wasn't there?)

And last night I finished about 90 percent of our first ever Christmas card. It's tough not to be too cheesy with these things but I think I caught a balance and Lindsey has informed me that she likes it (since I stopped working at around 330am she only saw it this morning).

Today, I'm heading to the Long Beach Aquarium to spend the day with my nieces and their dad. I love those girls. It'll be a fun day. I wish Linds was off work already!

According to this, 99.9% of non-Janet's boob related complaints that the FCC has fielded concerning indecency on television and radio come from one advocacy group: the Parents Television Council. This one group has, in the past year, been the puppeteer behind the FCC's war on so-called indecency on the airwaves. It's so funny to me because groups like this made the TV rating system happen and because of the rating system, television was able to flourish in all sorts of ways that can be termed "indecent". I saw it coming a mile away.

And the PTC are some smug motherfuckers about it, too. All this group means to me is there are a lot of parents who don't want the responsibility of being parents. This group wants the FCC to take care of their kids' viewing habits so they don't have to. How about this: act like fucking parents. It's not the government's responsibility to watch your kids. It's yours. So do your fucking jobs and watch your goddamn kids.

EDIT: Upon further review of the PTC website, I see now how organized they are and how they can get complaints to the FCC so fast. Check this out. The people complaining don't even have to see the tv show or radio broadcast in question. The PTC has a ready-made form that any idiot with an internet connection can fill out without even thinking about it. Amazing. It seems like the FCC shouldn't take every single complaint they take seriously. The weird thing is I've never even of this show before. So once again an advocacy group's rantings have created information that kids can use to watch potentially offensive material. Thanks, PTC! I think I'll go listen to Two Live Crew now.

I think today we'll be getting ourselves a Christmas tree. Mostly it's because Lindsey wants one but even if she didn't I probably would get one anyway. The apartment needs a bit of holiday cheer...something that Transformers can only provide so much of.

As part of the continuing adventures into the Palm Springs area, we have here some photos from the dinosaur rest stop just outside of Palm Springs off Interstate 10. Some of you may recognize these giant concrete dinosaurs from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. I remember driving by these things when I was a kid but my parents never went in for kitchy freeway stops so I never saw them up close until this past weekend. Most of these were taken by Lindsey since I had to run in, on, and around these dinosaurs like I was 12.

That's me on the giant t-rex's foot.

Hey, that's me again, desperately fighting the sun's glare...
and "witnessing", apparently.

Ain't they fun?

We then stopped at the next exit and braved the Cabazon shopping outlets which were pretty packed although we saw some insane traffic headed that way when we were driving to Palm Springs the previous Friday. Forgot about that whole American obsession with shopping the day after Thanksgiving.

It was biting cold out that day. I'm usually the one who complains about how damn cold it is and I bit my tongue that day since I decided to get out of the car without my jacket. Luckily I avoided getting pneumonia.
