Well, it's been a while but I've been very busy lately. Some quick highlights:

A few weeks ago, Linds and I attended my nieces' birthday party in Irvine at a big public park. All their little friends were there along with their parents. It was a fun day since I don't get to see my nieces often these days. Later in the day, we stayed at a little hotel out there (since my sister and brother-in-law were having a house guest) so I could go to an exhibit at the Orange County Museum of Art. Afterwards, we did some window shopping at some horribly fancy mall in the area called Fashion Island. I swear I saw 4 year old girls with Fendi purses.

Next, we ventured out to Camarillo at a little hotel out there so we could get away from LA for the evening and enjoy a jacuzzi. We drove for what seemed like days looking for a decent place to eat. There isn't much out there in Camarillo. We finally settled on a barbecue joint (where neither of us ordered barbecue) and tried to hear each other over the bar-like noise. When we asked the server where the nearest 7-11 was, she replied, "I don't think we have a 7-11 here." Nothing much in Camarillo, I tell ya. We still had a great time, however, despite getting roused out of bed at 4am by the hotel fire alarm. Don't worry...we left unscathed. The following day, we had breakfast (I haven't had French toast in years) and headed home. I forced Lindsey to listen to the Grease soundtrack as I sang all the songs with all the cheese I could muster. I'm still not sure whether she was amused or bemused by my antics.

Later in the day, I attended our monthly sketchbook session in Chatsworth with special guest Ronnie del Carmen, a friend of mine who works in the story department at Pixar. He's giving a talk or a little seminar on story at an animation convention or something soon and he wanted to try it out on us first, you know...people he knew. It went really well. It was nice to have him around. He's an incredibly inspiring guy.

Wizard World in Long Beach is coming this weekend. It's great since I'm really jonesing to nerd out but I'm bummed I'll miss Easter at Lindsey's family's place. Normally it wouldn't bother me, but since her family actually likes me (and I, them) I'm a little sad about it. It'll have to be next time. Anyway...me and my boys (and girl) have a couple of tables in Artists Alley. It should be fun.

And now, my weekly Hellboy drawing:

(recently replaced due to prick jerk nerd hackers)

Oh, by the way, I had to disable the comments function of this journal. This morning I got attacked by about 20 emails of a sexually explicit nature, all from the comments function of this thing. So far, disabling it and blocking the journal anonymous email did the trick. I'm hoping that's all the computer trouble I have this week.
