SAN DIEGO DECOMPRESSION

Two days back from San Diego and I'm finally feeling normal again. 5 days of the world's biggest comic book convention'll do that to ya. Sketchbook Sessions and Zowie! did fairly well and a pretty good time was had by all. We were neighbors with the super-cool Stephen Silver and the ruggedly handsome yet swishy Ben Caldwell and his lovely wife Angela. It was probably a bit overwhelming for them since our table had what seemed like 50 dudes to their one or two. But I think everything went okay.

Friday night, we had our big sketch party at the Marriot and, as usual, we took over the place for hours on end. It was great seeing so many kids drawing and so many of them drunk off their asses.

Saturday night was the Spike & Mike Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation screening and the premiere of our new film, Roybertito's :60 Second Spot. Although Breehn had his doubts, the film was far and away the hit of the screening. I couldn't quite gauge the crowd's reaction during the screening from where I sat, but many of them jumped on their feet to applaud when the film ended. It was as cool as the first Dr. Tran screening. Big thanks to all my friends who attended. It meant a lot to me.

I met so many great people this year, including a few internet friends who are now real-life friends. You all know who you are....you guys are the best.

The worst part of the weekend was being away from Lindsey for so long. It was the longest we'd been apart...ever. I saw her for a few hours on Saturday when she visited the con with her Dad and sister, which was great, but it sucked to say goodbye that day. Next year, she's coming along, whether she likes it or not!

Photos to come...
