"AS TIME GOES BY.."

I got a bit of a late start this morning. I usually wake up when Lindsey leaves for work and the first thing I do is turn the television on in the bedroom and watch CNN or whatever, to see what blew up this morning. (Ever since that whole New York thing, that's what turning the TV on in the morning is for me.) Well, nothing did (apart from the usual Bush nonsense) so I started flipping channels. And I landed on a just-starting Casablanca.

There goes the morning.

Casablanca is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's so damn good. So I ended up watching most of it, despite having seen it a million times and despite owning it on DVD. It's sad.

Anyone who hasn't seen this, make a note of it and go see it. But I'll leave you with a warning. You know how movies suck these days? They'll suck a hundred times more after you see Casablanca.

Humphrey Bogart is one cool-ass, Nazi-fighting, gin-swilling, pimp.

I TURNED 32 YESTERDAY...SIGH

No biggie. Didn't want to make a big deal of it so no party...just spent the day hangin' out at home reading, watching movies, and taking care of Lindsey who has a bit of a sinus thing going. I made dinner last night and we generally just vegged. I got some cool stuff from Linds and my family. It was a good day, a low key day. Thanks to all who sent their well wishes!

INHUMANS

Lockjaw and Medusa of the Inhumans. Comic book geeks will know who they are. Anyone else will have to Google. I drew this for a thread on the Drawing Board, a thread filled with a ton of much better pieces than this one, but it was fun. Digital illustration

TWO YEARS

Can you be true?
Can this possibly be real?
I knew quite suddenly
Do you sense how I feel?
I long to hear you whisper my name
'Til you tell me
"My Darling, you may be my man." -Elvis Costello, Can You Be True?

I love you, Lindsey.

I DON'T HAVE ONE

I'm so jealous of the kids that have an XBOX 360 today. It's an expense that I normally wouldn't even think twice about but those days are over. Anyway...I probably wouldn't even be thinking about it had I not seen it in action at Target. The graphics are just so dang sweet. (Yeah, I said "dang".) I heard this morning that the kids were lined up all over the place last night and this morning. Thank Christ...because Microsoft needs more money.

Oh well...I'm still trying to master Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2000 golf game I got for the Playstation 2 about 4 years ago. I think I'm finally getting the hang of it!

FALL FOOLS

You gotta love a girl who will make a jackass of themselves with you in public. Linds and I decided to take some photos to send to family members for the holidays. We drove around town until we found a suitable fall setting. Well, suitable enough...we don't get much fall 'round these parts. We took some family friendly photos and, inevitably, we started making faces (don't worry, Mom, none of them stuck...much).

We took about a million silly photographs. Aren't we so goddamn adorable?

Later this week, Thanksgiving...for the first time with both of our families in attendance! Should be great. A day later, my two year anniversary dating Lindsey and later still, I turn 32. It'll be a little busy this end of November.

YOU WIN SOME, YOU LOSE SOME

As Pennsylvania comes back to its senses, Kansas continues its slide back into the dark ages.

All you critical thinkers in Kansas may want to start considering home schooling now.

NOVEMBER ALREADY!

And 2005 is almost over. Crazy. I swear the older I get the faster time goes by.

A while ago, Linds and I went to Santa Barbara for a day during the week. Since she teaches at a Hebrew preschool, Lindsey gets weird days off so we took that opportunity to get out of town for a day when it was nice and cheap to do so. We stayed at a cute little bed & breakfast place called the Eagle Inn which was very cool and romantic and cheaper than the corporate hotel chains in the area. We even had our own hot tub. That ruled. We drove around the area and took a long walk on the pier, marveling at the crazy looking skies...half stormy, half sunny. We also took in their big shopping street and window shopped for a few hours. It was very relaxing. We drove Highway 1 back for awhile and took in the beach sights. There were some cool hippie debris sculptures all over the shore.

This whole thing seemed to stretch for miles. That's my gal in the foreground.

A little bit after that, Linds and I went with her Dad Dean and her sister Mandie to the big air show at Edwards Air Force Base. As one can imagine, Linds and Mandie were less than thrilled with the place. Dean and I, however, were like kids in a toy store where the toys cost 40 million bucks a pop. I tend to be a dove when it comes to war and stuff, but it's still impressive as hell when you're walking inside a C-130 Hercules or seeing a B-52 bomber fly over head. It's amazing anything that big and heavy can actually get off the ground and stay there.

Here's that vertical take-off plane that crashes all the time. I read an article about it in Vanity Fair, I think. Still pretty cool lookin'.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to Cincinnati for my friend Rob's wedding. Rob's one of my buddies from high school, one of only 4 or 5 I still talk to, so it was necessary for me to be there...especially since I missed his college graduation a few years back. Overall, it was a good time and it was nice to hang with my boys. Nearby Kentucky was just gorgeous with all the leaves changing colors.

My boys.

I worked on a few random jobs the last few weeks but I'm still hoping to get more substantial employment soon, especially with the coming winter. Lots of birthdays and holidays and anniversaries in the pipe.

CELEBRITY SIGHTING: I SAW KIRSTEN DUNST TODAY

I hung out with my gal-pal Amy today. We went to Priscilla's to get a cup of something hot and I saw Kirsten Dunst there today. She looked exactly like Kirsten Dunst.
